The Journey To Eternity
Life is a journey. This journey starts when one is born but many do not know their destination till the day of death. Knowing where you are going gives one the urge to make preparation for it.
Our destination is where we will spend eternity after death either with God in heaven or in the lake of fire with the devil and his demons.
In His teaching Jesus assured His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them that where He is there they will also be. John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Religion is not the way to God:
What is religion: The word religion comes from the Latin word religare, which means “to bind.” It is related to the Latin word regula, which referred to a measuring stick, and is the root of our English word rule. A religion, therefore, is not merely a set of beliefs, but a set of beliefs that bind the believer. Religion imposes a kind of rule or regulation upon the believer’s life.
Observing rules of dos and don’ts by sets of religious rules does not lead to God but regulates a person’s life on earth.
Jesus is the Way to the Father: John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The Secret Visit of Nicodemus: John 3:1-6
Nicodemus wasa religious leader in the time of Jesus who secretly visited Jesus by night to enquire about the way to God.
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
The response of Jesus to Nicodemus was made clear that to be in the Kingdom of God needs a rebirth that was not a physical issue but something spiritual beyond our physical senses.
3 Keys to experience the rebirth: John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
- Believe that Jesus is the only saviour and way to God.
- Receive Him into your heart.
- Declare by confession as your Lord And Saviour and that God raised Him from the dead. Rom.10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Prayer:
Father thank You for providing salvation through Jesus Christ. I believe He is the Son of God and died and rose from the dead for lost sinner. Today I repent of my sins, I ask for forgiveness for all my sins. I receive You Jesus into my life help me to live for you from today and the rest of my life. Thank you for saving me in Jesus mighty Name, Amen.
